Job Title: Trainee Underwriter

Location: Rotherham

Salary: Up to £23,000

Hours: Monday to Friday 9 am to 5.30 pm

About the Role:

We have an amazing new opportunity for a trainee underwriter with a new and rapidly expanding lender offering superb opportunities for individuals with exposure to the financial services sector.

Experience is not required, just a keen eye for details and a knack for building strong relationships coupled with great time management and organisational skills

You will be responsible for making loan eligibility decisions, approving or rejecting applications, and ensuring customers receive outstanding service throughout their application journey.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform risk assessments on potential loan recipients based on credit rating, borrowing history, and other specific risk factors.
  • Understand the rules and regulations that govern lending.
  • Work seamlessly with other team members to ensure a smooth, speedy application process for potential customers.
  • Review and verify supporting documentation.
  • Conduct thorough and accurate research.
  • Respond to all customer enquiries/applications.
  • Performing administrative tasks as assigned by the Line Manager

Experience required:

  • Outstanding communication & listening skills.
  • Educated to GCSE level in both Maths and English.
  • Experience in a Financial Services environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • The integrity to respect private and confidential information.
  • The ability to work with SLAs in a high-pressure working environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent active listening skills.
  • Patience & Resilience.
  • A professional telephone manner.
  • High-quality computer and numeracy skills.
