About the position of Compliance Manager

The position of Compliance Manager will be central to the Banks programme of regulatory compliance. You will use your expert knowledge to ensure that there are adequate and effective controls in place to mitigate against regulatory, reputational, legal and operational risks. You will be required to lead, coach and mentor the Isle of Man based compliance team and will have money laundering reporting responsibility for the bank and their sister company

Responsibilities for the role of Compliance Manager

  • Provide compliance support to the bank and its subsidiaries
  • Ensure adequate and effective controls are in place to mitigate against regulatory, reputational, legal and operational risks
  • Manage the isle of man-based compliance team and deputise for the UK based Compliance manager as required
  • Act as a Money Laundering reporting officer for the bank and one subsidiary
  • Support the head of risk and compliance and other senior managers in discharging their duties under the controlled function and senior managers certification regimes
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability
  • Implement effective issues and actions tracking
  • Review and analyse new legislation and regulation
  • Direct the planning and delivery of compliance training programme to cover AML/CFT and Financial crime requirements
  • Manage and monitor the effective implementation of compliance related policies including the maintenance of all registers and logs required
  • Manage a register of regulatory returns and notifications
  • Provide compliance advise and support on projects
  • Actively manage and coach the Isle of Man compliance team, setting and monitoring objective, performing regular one to ones and formal performance reviews

Experience required for the position of Compliance Manager

  • Hold a relevant professional qualification or have extensive industry experience in (compliance, risk, internal audit or legal)
  • Detailed working knowledge of the Isle of Man FSA rule book 2016 and the AML/CFT code 2019 as they apply to deposit taking/banking/investment businesses and insurance intermediaries or have an excellent understanding of the FCA
  • Ability to work independently and manage own workload
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous exposure to managing or leading a team would be highly desirable
